Liturgical Revival

Club of Zealots for Liturgical Revival: the Language of Liturgy seeks to be a discussion forum for one of the most relevant and difficult questions of modern liturgy – the language in which we worship.

Questions for Discussion:

  • Why does the topic of the language in which we worship call up such active repudiation from opponents? What problems do we encounter when discussing this question?
  • My road to worship in Russian language: why it became so important and necessary, what was the goal and the meaning?
  • What does a reasonable attitude and position toward Church Slavonic look like? Love it? Value it? Forget it?

This workshop plans to produce and sign a letter to the Patriarch with a request to finally put into effect the Local Council of 1917–1918’s decision in favour of allowing the possibility and expressing the desirability of worship in modern Russian.

Both priests and laypeople will take part in the discussion.
