In the beginning of 1918, Patriarch Tikhon issued a call to believers to form spiritual unions/bonds for the defense of churches at the onset of the persecution in the wake of the Russian Revolution. One hundred years later, we look back to the invaluable experience of church life at that time, which is to this day little known, understood, or received.
